Season 63 was a success - following the mid-season formation of the franchise, the club were able to secure promotion in both One Day and BT20 formats.

If we can repeat that in Season 64, the board will be pleased.

MB2 Cricket Group Ltd. have this week officially launched Baldwin Phoenix, a franchise based in Papua New Guinea.

With strong connections to the region following a relatively successful spell in charge of the PNG U19 side several seasons ago, combined with the desire of chief executive MB2 to return to front-line cricket management, have accelerated the expansion of the portfolio, which had initially been planned for mid-December 2024.

"The franchise will primarily aim to produce high-quality youth players to ensure a strong production line of talent feeding into the first team and hopefully the PNG U19 and national teams", revealed MB2 at the launch party.

The immediate focus will be preparing financially for Season 64, the first full season for the new club.

Shantha Renaldeen and the Good Warriors have won their first two-peat in the Cup S54 & S55 with victories over the East Goroka Highlanders and Penguin Pirates. Renaldeen put on a historic performance in S54 with an insane 107 off 98 with the bat and a meagre 31 runs off his 10 overs with the ball. Backing up in S55 Renaldeen was again dominate with 97 off 108 with the bat and an even better performance with the ball taking 2 wickets for 29 runs.

The Good Warriors have risen to the top once again being crowned cup champions. It's been nearly 9 years since cricket has came home and this season cricket has come home.

Nearly a championship for Colorado but managed to throw away winning positions to lose in the final game by a run. A exciting and unexpectedly good season non the less. Although outclassed in the 20s after claiming an amazing promotion to Div III last season.
A few standout player, Pouna is crowned batsman of the season with a ridiculous average of 188 in the one day league and just under 100 in the 20s. Club legend Downey was far behind averaging 139 as he reached a staggering 13,000 career runs!
In the bowling department new signing Spinner Mabata was ranked the 3rd best in the league averaging 18.96

Colorado Ranchers have achieved the impossible or mildly unlikely and managed to win the entire whole league. A steady progression thoughout the seasons with very few transfers have seen them rise from the bottom of the pile just a few years ago. Credit to some fierce competition with East Goroka Highlanders fighting it out in the end, having beaten us in the semi they did at least win the cup. Player of the season is of course Dinanath Rajupillai the countries star batsman!

Promoted from the club academy on 28th of May 2008, Rob 'Grandma' Doyley retires after 19 seasons with Fukushima CC. A club champion that deserves his place in the Hall of Fame.

A destructive wrist spinner, Rob played 551 official matches (OD: 265, BT20: 132, FC: 154), took 887 wickets (OD: 309, BT20: 137, FC: 441), and 208 catches (OD: 66, BT20: 32, FC: 110).

Rob's contribution to the club will never be forgotten with the establishment of the Grandma Doyley School of Advanced Crochet to provide a place for all young cricketers to refine their knitting skills. Rob says, "I may be a wrist spinner, but years of knitting has given my fingers the strength to compete for so long at the top level."

Leigh Stuart smashed a huge 6 on the final ball of the over to send Fukushima CC up to BT20 Div 2 next season today.

A healthy 175 was set by Bishsbashers in partially cloudy conditions on the cracked Akabeko CG pitch. With two overs remaining, Stuart and Ormerod needed 30 runs to seal the victory. Smashing 18 of the second last over, they still required 12 from the final over.

A single, followed by Ormerod's wicket, left Fukushima CC in a very dangerous position. Tait with a single put Stuart back on strike, who dispatched the fourth delivery to the boundary for 4, followed by a comfortable 2, leaving 4 runs needed on the final ball. Stuart made sure of the win by smashing the ball "over the sightscreen and into the car park" for a huge 6.

This team has been knocked out of the Cup, which frees up Sundays for friendly matches.
